Vigor Completes DSRA on USS Tulsa at Swan Island

DSRA is the third Navy project the company has completed this year

Vigor, a Titan Company, successfully completed a 13-month docking-selected restricted availability (DSRA) on USS Tulsa (LCS 16), returning it to service on-schedule in October. This is the second DSRA that Vigor has completed in 2023, and the third Navy ship repair project that the company has completed this year.

"Vigor's successful completion of USS Tulsa is the most recent testament to Vigor's ability to deliver projects in support of the U.S. Navy," said Adam Beck, EVP of Ship Repair for Vigor. "This is the third Navy project that we have completed this year, and our skilled workforce has demonstrated their ability to carry out the work safely, and with a high standard of quality each time."

Vigor's work on USS Tulsa's DSRA helped provide family-wage jobs for over 200 skilled workers at Swan Island. Work on USS Tulsa included a full blasting and repair of the underwater hull and flight deck, adding new decking in the ship's staterooms and crew quarters, and cleaning and painting all fuel tanks. In addition to general maintenance and repair, Vigor also replaced the ship’s diesel service generator—the first time a generator has been replaced on any ship of USS Tulsa’s class.

"Our skilled workers' delivery of USS Tulsa back into active service is yet another demonstration of Vigor's ability to complete complex projects on Navy ships," Beck said. "We are proud to support the U.S. Navy and to contribute to our military readiness during a time of increasing conflict around the world."

In addition to the work on USS Tulsa, Vigor also completed work on USS Michael Murphy (DDG 112) and USS Chosin (CG 65) earlier this year. As USS Tulsa returns to active service, USS Cape St. George (CG 71) and USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53) are undergoing maintenance at Vigor's Harbor Island facility in Seattle, WA.
