Vigor Completes Post-Shakedown Availability for USNS Earl Warren in Portland

Earl Warren is second of John Lewis-class PSA’s completed at Vigor Marine Portland

Vigor Marine Group (VMG) has successfully completed a Post-Shakedown Availability (PSA) on USNS Earl Warren (T-AO-207) at its Swan Island shipyard in Portland, adding to the company’s long track record of supporting Military Sealift Command at the facility. The project ran from October through March, with more than 180 employees supporting it.

“We truly value our partnership with Military Sealift Command and appreciate the trust they place in our team,” said Adam Beck, Executive Vice President of Maintenance and Modernization Pacific at VMG. “The successful completion of this availability reflects the talent, pride, and hard work our skilled workforce brings to every project, and we’re grateful for their continued commitment to supporting the fleet.”

During the availability period, Vigor teams performed vessel upgrades and improvements that could not be completed during the ship’s original construction. A wide range of skilled tradespeople supported this project, including boilermakers, pipefitters, machinists and painters. Not only does this kind of work ensure fleet readiness, it also supports hundreds of family wage jobs in the Portland region.

USNS Earl Warren is a sister ship to the USNS John Lewis (T-AO-205) and these vessels had not yet entered full service prior to undergoing shakedown activities. VMG’s work on these availabilities continues its long history of supporting MSC vessels and growing expertise with the newest class. Alongside USNS Earl Warren, Vigor continues to support work on USNS Mercy (T-AH-19), USNS Matthew Perry (T-AKE-9), and USNS Washington Chambers (T-AKE-11).
