Vigor Begins DSRA on USS Barry (DDG 52) at Harbor Island

USS Barry is the third Navy vessel currently undergoing active maintenance by Vigor in 2024

Vigor, a Titan Company, has begun a docking selected restricted availability (DSRA) on Arleigh Burke-class guided-missile destroyer USS Barry (DDG 52) at Harbor Island. USS Barry arrived at Harbor Island on February 5, and joins Ticonderoga-class guided-missile cruiser USS Cape St. George (CG 71) in undergoing service in Seattle. The $209 million contract was awarded to Vigor last year.

"Being awarded USS Barry is a direct reflection of our quality performance on previous U.S. Navy availabilities and a testament to the strength of our partnership. We know the importance of having our vessels ready to support their mission and look forward to getting USS Barry back in service for our nation."

USS Barry is expected to remain at Harbor Island through spring of 2025. Up to 400 skilled laborers will work on the vessel over the duration of the 16-month DSRA.

"Long, complex projects like USS Barry not only ensure a strong U.S. Navy fleet, they provide hundreds of family wage jobs here in the Puget Sound," said Beck. "Our workforce has developed significant experience in performing maintenance on vessels like this one, and they will put that expertise to use once again."

In addition to Vigor's work on USS Barry and USS Cape St. George, Vigor is also finishing work on USS John Paul Jones (DDG 53), as well as working on several Military Sealift Command (MSC) vessels. The company is currently performing maintenance on replenishment oilers USNS John Lewis (T-AO-205) and USNS Henry J. Kaiser (T-AO-187), and Safeguard-class rescue and salvage ship USNS Grasp (T-ARS-151) in Portland. In addition, Vigor will soon begin scheduled maintenance on hospital ship USNS Mercy (T-AH-19) at the Swan Island shipyard.
